Left Boise around 10:20am. Forgot about crossing from the Mountain time zone into the Pacific time zone. So even though I didn’t leave at 9 as I had planned, it worked out ok and I still got to Bend about an hour earlier than I needed to be.
Another great day riding. The terrain leaving Idaho was more rolling plains. Not much to look at. But as I approached Oregon it got more interesting. I could see the year-round snow on the top of at least three mountains. I later found out they are called the Three Sister Mountains (appropriately enough), or the Three Sister Volcanoes. When I pulled into Bend, I called my brother’s buddy. He directed me to the downtown area and I found a coffee shop to hang out in and hooked up to their wi-fi to pass the time.
I arrived at my new host family’s house just after 6pm. They fixed a great dinner. We talked for a while and then called it an evening.
